Relax Your Shoulders - Liberate Your Neck
Many
people complain of stiff necks, tight, stiff shoulder muscles and soreness in the whole
neck / shoulder region. In this workshop we will explore how we can leave the
stiffness, soreness and tension behind by finding how our neck and shoulders can
work in a free flowing and functional way. We will use imagery, self touch,
experiential anatomy and movement to rediscover balance and wholeness in our
shoulders and necks. By understanding how the design of our shoulders and necks
has evolved we will gain insight into how we can move and live with the design -
rather that against it as we so often try to do. When we live in our body's
design we can move more freely for sport, dance and everyday life.
Using Franklin Balls and Therabands we will explore some toning and releasing exercises to help organise and strengthen the muscles and joints of the neck and shoulder girdle. When we combine these movement exercises with the use of imagery that is so special to Franklin Method we achieve some truly great results—shoulders and necks that can move and flow with great grace and flexibility.
The workshop last took place at the studio in Graveley on Saturday 15th of December 2007 Contact David by email David Kellett DO, Franklin Method Teacher (or telephone 01462 438622 and leave a message with the receptionists) if you are interested in the workshop get in touch as the workshop will run again at some point.
