Fabulous Feet – Flexible Foundations
- For a spring in your step
Our feet
support as we travel through life. They let us
spring into the air and then allow us to land with grace and lightness. Yet our
feet take a lot of punishment in the course of our lives. Imagine your body
weight – then imagine the force of that multiplied by several times – that is
the force that your feet experience every time you take a step – as you speed up
the step or go higher off the ground in a leap or jump the force goes up and up.
Is it any wonder we get sore feet? Well actually it is a wonder and at the same
time it isn’t. Our feet are a beautiful design – elegant and simple, supple and
strong yet we often abuse them with wrong posture habits and evil shoes and then
we get all surprised when they ache like hell at the end of a day!
In this workshop we will explore how the natural evolutionary design of the human foot can be re-embodied to heal our aching feet to better support us through our lives whether as sports people, dancers, walkers, runners or just so we can live in more comfort in the office. We will use the tools of embodied experiential anatomy, gentle specific exercise and focused imaginative awareness to find better postural adaptation in, and the potential for healing in, our feet.
The workshop last took place at the studio in Graveley on Saturday 8th of September 2007. Contact David by email David Kellett DO, Franklin Method Teacher (or telephone 01462 438622 and leave a message with the receptionists) if you are interested in the workshop as the it will run again at some point.
