TADZ - Near Full Moon Men's Dances
Christian de Sousa, the 5Rhythms teacher, stated the concept of Full Moon Dances for men with the Men In the Moon Dances. He is still facilitating these dances in Oxford, sometimes London and sometimes in exotic locals like this June's one in Wales! They are wonderful journeys into the known and unknown psyche of Menkind. Christian generally run's his Men in The Moon Dances when the full moon hits a weekend. Some of us enjoy the dances so much that we have decided to try to "fill in the gaps" as it were by holding un-facilitated Full Moon Dances for Men on weekends near the full moon - in months when Christian isn't running his.
The TADZ dances are born out of a need for men to dance as men and with men from time to time. Everywhere I go to dance - whether 5Rhythms or Movement Medicine - there are always more women than men. There is nothing wrong with it - often that is great!! - but sometimes we really need to dance with men to find a mirror of what it is to be a man, to find the man you are in your soul. There are energies stirring in every man's heart that need to be met by another man's heart. The energy of the fire, the spirit of the Hunter, the Wild Goat God Pan, some atavistic, wild Viking archetype that wants to roar his exuberant lust for life. There are energies of gentleness, vulnerability and kindness that we cannot always show to our women folk, feelings that can only be revealed in the safety of our circle of brothers. This time at TADZ is a time to let all that wildness out where it can be met, held and honoured by your brothers. All though the TADZ dances are not facilitated they are "held" by the organisers and by the group that turns up on the day. We all contain within us all the faces of Man - Father, Brother and Son and it is from that core that we can hold each other safely. It is because we are holding the space collectively for our fellows that you need to have been to at least one of Christian's Men In The Moon dances or done some other 5Rhythms or Movement Medicine dancing before you come to a TADZ dance. The music is arranged by the organisers and sometimes by other members of the group. There is a £5 charge - which will be put in a kitty, half to go to a men's charity (if you know a good one then please let me know!!) and the other half to contribute to a "Men's Night Out" when there is enough money.
The reason we are in Graveley in the wilds of Hertfordshire is that the Studio is free as it is mine and where I run my own workshops. It means that we only have the nominal charge of £5 (we only have that because it keeps the energy right - freebies get messy!!)
